01302)5:30 PM-W/F-Lewiston, ME-Route 196 @ the "Philips Elmet Plant". Fire in a 220,000 sq. foot commercial building which produces light bulbs. Fire officials originally thought chemicals were involved so surrounding residents were evacuated, approx 2,000 people.

01298)4:00 PM-MVA-Orono, ME-Park St. Motorcycle vs a car, female passenger on the motorcycle was killed. The operator, her husband, had minor injuries. The operator of the car was not injured.

01297)EVENING-MVA-Conway, NH-Route 302. Vehicle struck a guardrail and rolled down an enbankment, 1 fataility. PD are investigating.

01296)5:00 PM-HAZMAT-Gilford, NH-Cumberland Rd. Oil truck rolled over spilling part of the 2,800 gallons of oil it was carrying. Central New Hampshire and Lakes Region Haz-Mat Teams responded to contain the spill.

01295)EVENING-W/F-Dedham, ME-Thompson Rd. A house fully involved on arrival, M/A responded.

01294)8:09 PM-HAZMAT-Sanford, ME-6 East St. A homeowner put several chemicals including muriatic acid in a box, created a reaction sending a "green cloud" over and around the box, which had been placed in the driveway. A regional hazmat team was called to the scene, as was a team from Ogunquit and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Area residents were evacuated, spill was cleaned up by 12:30 am.

01293)AFTERNOON-WATER INCIDENT-Portsmouth, NH-I-95 at the Piscataqua River Bridge. Man jumped from the bridge, leaving a vehicle parked on the roadway. His body was recovered after an extensive search which included the Coast Guard, New Hampshire and Maine Marine Patrols, New Hampshire State Police, the New Castle Fire Department, Portsmouth Fire and Rescue, and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. It was reported he left a suicide note in the vehicle.

01292)10:30 AM-W/F-Plymouth, NH-Speare Memorial Hospital. A short circuited heater/air conditioner unit on the roof sent smoke throughout the hallways of the hospital, several persons were evacutated while the problem was located and smoke was ejected. M/A responded from Ashland, Holderness, Rumney, Campton and Thornton.

01290)1:35 PM-HAZMAT-Biddeford, ME-Route 111 at Five-Points Shopping Center. 3-inch natural gas main leak, shopping center and area businesses were evacuated for about an hour.

01288)6:05 PM-MVA-North Haverhill, NH-Route 10 Kies Flats. 1 person pinned in vehicle, M/A jaws from Woodsville & 2nd ambulance responded.

01287)5:50 PM-W/F-Eliot, ME-35 Depot Rd. 2-story log style home, heavy smoke and fire on arrival. M/A responded from South Berwick, Kittery, Kittery Point and Somersworth's air-van, Rollinsford NH for cover.

01286)12:29 AM-W/F-Bridgewater, ME-Rte 1 near the fire station. A 101 year old apartment building, was extensively damaged. M/A from Monticello and Mars Hill responded.

01285)8:15 PM-MVA-Rochester, NH-Milton Rd. at intersection of Flat Rock Bridge Rd. Car off the road ran into Martinís Family Drive-in Restaurant, no injury to the female operator but extensive damage to the restaurant.

01284)6:00 PM-MVA-Windham, NH-I-93 at the Exit 3 interchange. Car struck guardrail and rolled over, ejecting the 2 occupants. Both were transported, 1 died after arrival at the hospital, 2nd occupant in serious condition. SP is investigating.

01283)12:15 PM-W/F-Amherst, NH-10 Columbia Dr. Fire in a "burn off" oven in a commercial building, heavy smoke throughout the building. M/A from Merrimack responded.

01282)12:30 AM-W/F-Auburn, ME-Washington St @ Gates Formed Fiber Products. Fire in a commercial building which manufactures trunk liners for cars and trucks.

01281)12:06 AM-2nd.AL-Rockland, ME-279 Broadway. Heavy smoke showing on arrival from the 1st floor of a 1.5 story single family dwelling, kitchen fire extended to 2nd floor. M/A ladder from Thomaston responded.

01277)07:38 AM-MVA-Durham, NH-Route 4 between Route 108 and Backriver Rd. Car crossed into path of a Kenworth truck and collided head-on, 1 fatality in the car, driver of the truck not injured.

01275)02:30 AM-W/F-Westbrook, ME-Brigton Rd across from Engine 3 station. A vacant structure with fire through the roof, building has been used for training, allowed to burn to ground. 1 ladder from Portland responded M/A.

01273)7:40 PM-2nd.AL-Bath, NH-Main St (Route 302) near the fire station. The Colonial Inn, 2 story house with heavy fire. Exterior attack set up and M/A tankers requested.

01272)3:30 PM-MVA-Bar Harbor, ME-Park Loop Rd in Acadia National Park. SUV off road rolled 40' down an enbankment, landing on the roof. 2 persons injured, 1 was trapped and was extricated by Bar Harbor FD.

01271)3:00 PM-MVA-Rochester, NH-Spaulding Turnpike near the Ten Rod Road exit. 3 vehicle accident involving a car, dump truck, and pickup truck, with entrapment, extrication tools used. Driver of the car later charged with drunk driving. 50-100 gallon diesel spill on scene, road was closed for nearly 3 hours.

01270)2:53 PM-MVA-St. Albans, ME-Route 152. Dodge pickup attempted to pass a car stopped for a school bus on the right, hit the shoulder and rolled over. 1 fatality in the truck, Somerset Cnty SO responded for reconstruction.

01269)09:13 AM-W/F-Monroe, ME-Stream Rd. A log house fire, male occupant confined to a wheelchair was killed in the blaze. State Fire Marshal's office is investigating, M/A responded from Winterport, Frankfort, and Brooks.

01264)05:00 AM-MVA-Oxford, ME-Route 26. Car vs a van, 1 fatality (former sheriff's deputy & police officer) and 1 10-45 code 2 was transported by Lifeflight.

01262)08:00 AM-W/F-Brewer, ME-Robin Hood Dr. Fire in a ranch-style house, heavy fire in a bedroom extended to attic, crews stopped it there. A family dog is credited with alerting a female occupant.

01261)9:30 PM-W/F+-Plymouth, NH-9 Walters Way. A large 2-story wood frame house fire, fully involved. M/A responded from Bridgewater, Campton-Thornton, Ashland and Rumney to the scene, Waterville Valley and Bristol covered.

01260)01:00 AM-W/F-Winterport, ME-Goshen Rd. Explosion and fire in a house, possibly caused by a small propane tank. House was a total loss, M/A responded from Frankfort, West Frankfort, and Monroe.

01259)1:30 PM-HAZMAT-Newmarket, NH-14 Hersey Ln. A worker operating an excavater was distracted when he dug into a hive of bees and sheared off a valve stem to a 500 lb. underground propane tank, causing a leak. Area residents were evacuated for about 3 hours until it could be off-loaded. Newmarket FD & PD units were assisted by Newfields FD at the scene.

01258)08:25 AM-MVA-Roxbury, ME-Route 120. Vehicle rolled over with entrapment, jaws from Rumford FD used for extrication.

01257)9:50 PM-MVA-Pittston, ME-Route 27. Accident with 10-45 code 2+, Lifeflight transported to hospital.

01256)4:00 PM-MVA-Dover-Foxcroft, ME-Route 15. 81 Y/O male apparently had a heart attack and lost control of his vehicle, which ran off the road and struck a tree. He was transported to Mayo Regional Hospital were he later died, accident is under investigation.

01255)2:00 PM-MVA-Whitefield, NH-Route 116 near fire station. 2 cars involved with multiple injuries, 3 rescues responded to the scene.

01254)12:45 PM-MVA-Ossipee, NH-Route 28 near the Wolfeboro town line. A station wagon struck a minivan head-on, 1 pregnant woman was a fatality, a 3 y/o passenger was transported to Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro. then later airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. 4 occupants of the van were transported with non-life threatening injuries. Wolfeboro FD responded to assist.

01253)12:40 PM-PLANE CRASH-Bowdoin College Grant West (East of Greenville), ME-Near Horseshoe Pond in an unorganized territory. Small float plane struck trees, then crashed and burned. 3 passengers were on the plane, 1 was a fatality and 2 severely burned in the crash. The pilot was also burned when he tried pulling the passengers from the plane. FAA was called for investigation.
(09/15/03) 2nd passenger died from injuries sustained in the crash.
(09/17/03) 3rd passenger died from injuries.

01248)12:10 PM-MVA-Fairfield, ME-Lower Ridge Rd & Center Rd. Car vs a pickup truck, with entrapment, jaws used. 2 10-45 code 2's and 3 10-45 code 3's transported.

Car struck a guardrail, was catapulted over it into 2 trees. 1 10-45 code 1 on scene, 2nd occupant was flown by Lifeflight to CMMC were he was pronounced pronounced dead. A third passenger, a teenager, transported with internal injuries. ME SP is investigating the accident.

01244)10:46 AM-MVA-Rochester, NH-Route 117 & Flagg Rd. Pickup truck vs a dump truck, 1 10-45 code 1 declared on scene. Reconstruction team responded.

01243)AM-HAZMAT-Waterville, ME-Waterville transfer station, acid leak from jugs which were improperly disposed of. HAZMAT teams from Waterville, Sappi paper mill and from Huhtamaki Manufacturing responded.

01241)7:00 PM-W/F-Orrington, ME-Fields Pond Rd. A house fire, well involved, 1 occupant treated for minor injuries.

01240)06:38 PM-W/F-Northwood, NH-18 Winding Hill Rd. Large 100X80 barn fully involved on arrival, M/A responded from Loudon, Pembroke, Barnstead, Allenstown, Epsom, Barrington, Deerfield, Pittsfield, Nottingham and Newmarket. The barn was totally destroyed.

01240)07:20 AM-MVA - Industrial Accident-Portsmouth, NH-Cate St construction site. A worker operating a dump truck somehow got trapped between the truck and building foundation, 1 fatality. Determined at this time to be accidental.

01236)11:15 AM-MVA-Fairfield, ME-Route 139 Southbound. Motorcyclists' body located on side of road approx 30 hours after he had been reported as missing. The motorcycle apparently hit the shoulder of the road, went airborne through some trees and the operator landed about 50 feet away from the motorcycle, he was fatally injured. The owner of the property and his wife located the operator and called police, the accident is under investigation.

01235)10:30 AM-MVA-Campton, NH-I-93. Female was found on the side of the highway by a subject with car trouble, her car had gone off the road and rolled over an enbankment at least 4 hours earlier. Helo flew her to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in serious condition.

01233)8:20 PM-MVA-Princeton, ME-Easter Cut-off Rd near the Baileyville town line. Car rolled over ejecting 3 occupants. A 14 y/o male passenger was fatality, 3 others were injured and transported to the hospital. Police are reconstructing and investigating the accident.

01232)7:30 PM-MVA-Dixmont, ME-Route Seven by the Cates Rd intersection. 4 y/o boy struck and killed by a car, his mother and her other son, who was in a stroller, were not injured. Penobscot County SO is investigating.

01231)12:40 PM-W/F-Benton, ME-11 Hanscom Rd. A structure fire, quickly knocked down.

01230)01:00 AM-MVA-Searsmont, ME-Appleton Ridge Rd. Pickup swerved to avoid a deer and went 100' off road into grove of trees, located at 3:15 PM that afternoon by a passerby. 1 female was transported to Waldo County General Hospital then EMMC in Bangor with possible broken back.

01229)10:15 PM-MVA-Ellsworth, ME-Route 1-A. Vehicle went out of control, off the road and struck a tree. 1 fatality, Ellsworth PD is investigating the accident.

01228)1:00 PM-HAZMAT-Laconia, NH-Fair St by the "Bodycote Thermal Processing building". 3/4 inch natural gas line ruptured, caused by contractors digging with heavy equipment. Surrounding streets were blocked off and area was evacuated, Gilford responded 1 engine to assist.

01227)09:07 AM-W/F+-Hollis, ME-11 Moderation St. Garage fully involved attached to a house, M/A responded from Buxton, Waterboro, & Goodwins Mills.

01226)01:19 AM-MVA-Hodgdon, ME-Route 1. Car off road into a tree with 1 fatality, jaws used by Houlton FD for extrication. ME SP is investigiating.

01223)7:00 PM-MVA-Canaan, ME-Tuttle Rd. Car off road down approx 20 feet over an enbankment on its side, female oper got out, her 3 y/o son was trapped in the burning car and was rescued by 2 passerbys, (David Custer and Mark Potter), just before the car exploded. Car & surrounding trees involved on arrival of FD. Boy not injured, mother had minor injuries.

01222)11:00 AM-MVA-Rangely, ME-Route 17. DOT workers located a motorcycle which had gone off the road during the night, they also located the operator who had been fataly injured. Franklin County SO responded to investigate.

01221)07:30 AM-MVA-Fremont, NH-230 Main St. A 2-story apartment building with heavy smoke on arrival. Fire extended into walls, attic, and through the roof. M/A responded from Raymond, Kingston, Brentwood, Danville, Chester, and Stratham.

01217)1:30 PM-MVA-Buxton, ME-Route 22 & Route 112. Dump truck vs minivan with serious injuries and entrapment, 2 sets of jaws used. Standish responded M/A, SP responded for reconstruction.

01216)07:40 PM-MVA-Palmyra, ME-Route 152. Jeep Cherokee off road into some rocks and trees, 1 male fatality, possible cause due to medical problem. Somerset County SO, members of the Hartland and Hartland/St. Albans Ambulance assisted Palmyra FD at the scene.
